Bad Santas and cranky elves take centre stage in a new play based on the award-winning prose of humorist David Sedaris. Adapted for the stage from an essay chronicling Sedaris' experiences and encounters during his tenure as a department store Christmas elf, the work has enjoyed critical and commercial success internationally. It is compiled from hilarious and bizarre firsthand accounts of life on the front line of a manufactured North Pole, where Sedaris eventually began to see, in his own savagely witty way, the true spirit of Christmas. For this Melbourne premiere season, improv and comedy actor Russell Fletcher will don the tights and tunic, treating audiences to a show brimming with bitter-sweet off-white Christmas comedy that is quickly becoming an anti-holiday cult classic.
