RYAN Fitzpatrick, regional general manager of recruitment firm IPA Personnel, has joined the board of Hunter Business Centre.

Launched in June 2004, Hunter Business Centre operates the business incubator in King Street, Newcastle.

Under contracts with the NSW Department of State and Regional Development and the federal Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, it delivers start-up programs for new businesses.

Tenants included start-up businesses in engineering, information technology, imports, clothing manufacture, environmental management and graphic design.

The incubator provides serviced offices as well as a team of business advisers and mentors.

Centre chairman Damien Harvey said Mr Fitzpatrick had a background in senior management in recruitment, engineering and safety industries.

Mr Harvey said Mr Fitzpatrick's appointment added a set of skills to the incubator.

Mr Fitzpatrick joins board members Michael Dowser of Newcastle Port Corporation, Warwick Gilbertson from Turnbull Hill, Janelle Kirk from Prosperity, Brent Perkins from Crosbie Warren Sinclair, Bob Purser of Purser Corporate Communication, Nigel Stitt from Pacific Internet and Janice Walsh of Newcastle City Council.
