THE region's peak economic organisation hosted two celebrations yesterday the opening of a new regional business incubator and the launch of its new business branding.
The business incubator, at Business Central Coast, Ourimbah, would be a vital tool in creating employment growth in the region over the next decade, Business Central Coast chairman Sandy Hollway said.
It can provide start-up support for 16 new businesses.
It is home to 12 small businesses including graphic design, financial consulting and quantity surveying. Funded by the Federal Government for $622,000, the incubator is one of 74 throughout Australia.
Mr Hollway said that with the region's population expected to grow from 310,000 to 420,000 over the next two decades, the region was at a crossroads with economic development.
Business Central Coast chief executive officer Geoff Riddell said the organisation had three primary objectives.
``The first is to grow the existing businesses that we have by developing industry clusters and strategic alliances," he said.
``We also need to spread the word so industries will relocate to the Central Coast and we need [to] create a Central Coast and brand equity so the region is seen as more than just a lifestyle location."
