CAPRAL Aluminium has provided a financial boost that could see the creation of up to 20 new businesses in the Lower Hunter over the next two years.
Capral has agreed to support for the next three years a new business incubator established in a building in Kurri Kurri's central business district by the Lower Hunter Business Enterprise Centre (BEC).
It will be partitioned to house up to 20 small businesses and an administration and support system provided by the BEC.
The aim of the incubator is to reduce the potential failure rate in new businesses by allowing them to operate efficiently at maximum potential.
Capral general manager Mr Trevor Coombe said that support for the project provided employment and investment opportunities for the region.
`This is especially important in the Hunter over the next few years as the industrial base changes following the closure of steelmaking at BHP,' Mr Coombe said.
`We are very aware of the need for continued business growth.'
